Cork is a bio-based structural material with intrinsic mechanical and environmental properties. Its cellular composition provides a combination of performance characteristics that are difficult to replicate with conventional fossil-based polymers.
Cork is mechanically processed into granulate and combined with a structural polyurethane binder to form an engineered composite material.
The manufacturing process requires comparatively low energy input relative to conventional petroleum-based plastics and generates minimal residual waste. Cork by-products can be fully valorised, including energy recovery at end of life.
